The Grind 2018-03-20T22:17:37+00:00

Time to get rid of those extra pounds you worked so hard on over the winter – IT’S TIME TO GRIND. We host a weekly gravel ride every week during the spring. Ride locations change weekly. We advise you keep up to date with ride data on the HAMR Facebook page. The weekly ride will be set up as an event.

Bike selection is riders choice. Ride what ya brung. It’s not unusual for many Grind riders to select their mountain bikes or fat bikes. We have some brave souls who show up on CX bikes – which is totally cool if you’re into suffering and stuff. A roadie showed up once – we never saw him again. Early gravel season in da Yoop can be tough. It’s cold, wet and gets dark early. We’d suggest bringing a bike capable of handling a variety of conditions.

Everyone is welcome to join the ride. It is your responsibility to find a person or a group that rides your pace. We probably won’t drop you… unless you complain a lot. Youth riders have been known to tag along and get some early season miles in with a parent or grandparent. We highly encourage this activity for youth. You know your kids better than we do – only bring em’ if you are sure they will handle and enjoy the ride.

Make sure you dress appropriately for the time of year. Basically this means you need to be ready for anything. Spring in the Yoop is unpredictable.

You’ll want to have the following: Multiple layers, gloves, warm/weatherproof footwear, light, GPS, hydration, food, a fully charged phone. Cycling helmets MUST be worn.

We’ll post ride files you can load onto your GPS. Make sure you know where you’re going in the event you end up on your own.
